Lamb, the Gospel according to Biff.

It was quite a while ago, I think four years ago when my dear friend Sonja told me about this book by Christopher Moore. Lamb, the Gospell according to Biff.

Usually I don’t read gospells in order to entertain myself, but this one was supposed to be funny. I started reading, got addicted, didn’t have time, had to bring it back, recently bought it, re-read what I already read, finished it up and loved it.

The story starts in New York, 2001 or something. Let’s just call it the present. An angel is sent out by God to talk to Biff, Christ’s childhood pal. The other gospels never told anything about Biff and some people want to know why. Christ aka Joshua said now was the time, or something. Either way he finally has the chance to tell what happends. And so he begins to talk about his time with Joshua when they where only small kids.

It all begins with Joshua healing a lizard that a friend is killing alle the time. They discover at the age of 11 that they have to travel, and so their journey begins. From Egypt to India, kamasutra to Buddism they learn a lot on their path. Then they have to return, get followers and well… the rest is well known.

The book really inspired me. There’s a lot of humour in it which I really like. Another thing is that you can clearly see the line between fact *as far as we know* and fiction. Still eventhough the portrait of Joshua might be slightly different than the one you had before reading it *presuming this was real* the book still inspires you very much to live a better life, to be good to others and all other positive stuff. Yet it achieves this goal in a very entertaining way.

The book isn’t that expensive, you can get it everywhere and it’s a very good read. One that will make you laugh out loud at least once every 2 pages on average.

Haven’t read it? Go get it now.
