Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

It is like once or twice a week that I invite some friends at home in order to watch a movie. This time it was “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” that we all saw together.

Just another 3D movie? Yeah you could put it that way. The story is based on a children’s book and it’s quite obvious. What struck us most was the humor in this movie. From small cartoony lame things to quite unexpected stuff. It made is rewind certain parts of the movie to see it like three or four times.

The story is about Flint, a young inventor who seems to fail at all his inventions. Yet these prove to be very hilarious. He lives on a very VERY tiny island under the A of  ”Atlantic Ocean” on your world map. It’s the size of a pixel. Then he invents a machine that can turn water in any food. So let’s start off with cheeseburgers. I mean who doesn’t love cheeseburgers? *This will generate some vegetarians-hate-mail but okay*.

Well from that point, all goes good, all goes wrong, all gets fixed. I mean it’s a simple story so no worries.

Eventhough the story is simple, the visual style is amazing. Is it like Lord of the Rings or Avatar? No it’s cartoony-3D and VERY playful. There’s lot’s of colors and I found a lot of shots just very pleasant and pretty to look at. That being said I’m a 3D modeler myself.

So what to do with this movie? Want to see something simple, yet fun? Go see it. It’s worth every penny in cinema.
