Quite a digital guitar: MISA

Submitted by admin on Wednesday, 21 July 2010No Comment

shot21Australia based MISA has done it; they’ve created a fully digital guitar that doesn’t require the skill of pressing 5 buttons and a Nintendo console. May I present to you the MISA Digital Guitar!

It’s quite an instrument and I foresee many people getting the discussion on fire about analog v.s. digital. I mean when the pc did it’s introduction as an “instrument” many people acted offended. This guitar actually attempts to replace one of the most known instruments of all time, the guitar.

Of course the electric guitar was already helped by electric technology, but it was still an analogue signal. This device however is fully digital.

Whether or not this should be seen as a musical instrument is up to you. I however do not see any problems, only oppertunities. I mean it DOES make funky sounds that cannot be created with a regular acoustic instrument.

Also why bother to limit yourself while being creative? It’s a bit the same with photography.

At first the digital camera’s where seen as gadgets. Still they evolved. The first digital SLR camera was introduced and the crowd was skeptical and excited at the same time. Still the old skool (professional/moody) people defended that the quality of analogue photography could not be matched.

Think again… And I say this while having a 21 megapixel full-frame camera hehe.

Anyway I’m not sure where if the music-industry will ever replace acoustic with digital. I guess it’s just a preference anyway. I mean is it that important? They both produce a sound. Just pick the one you like most. In the end, it’s not about the messenger but about the message.
