DIY Wine.
Let’s create some wine! That’s what I thought when I was at the “brouwmarkt”. This is a store in Almere. They are specialized in brewing-your-own-stuff-products. So what did we do?
Aparently there’s a huge scene of people making their own stuff. With stuff I don’t just mean bread… no all sorts of stuff. Think about wines, beer, vodka, rum, cheese and lot’s more. I stumbled in a store specialised in this and had myself adviced. From all the things I could have bought to make something nice, I went for the wine. We bought everything we needed to make a sweet Australian wine. (Chapeau Victor!)

Okay so what do you need? A big bottle. Of course we’re not going to make 1L, no we’re drinkers so we buy a 25L bottle. That will look good at the parties…
Then you must have the wine-package. They cost about 16 euro’s wich is enough to make 23 Liters of wine… Hey wait, that’s CHEAP! *and fun*.
Also I bought a package of “sulfite”. Take a small spoon, add 1 liter of warm water (not hot!!) and you can clean the jar with this mixture.
Also you need a “siphon lock”. Mine looks like this:

Pretty cool aye?
Oh and you need 4-5 Kg of sugar. Yes that’s right… say hello to the gym! The alcohol has to be made from SOMETHING you know…
We put the dried grapes *and stuff* in the jar, the sugar too, 3 liter of water… we made sure all the sugar dissolved in the water… then after an hour added some of the other poweders, added 20 more liters of water (should have been less… trust me it’s FULL!) and what to do now? We wait. For about a week. At day 3 we will add the siphon lock too it as well…
So far so good. The room smells nice. I placed the jar next to my pc which blows out a lot of hot air… so the jar will stay at a nice temperature.
After day 1
BUBBLES! Lot’s of bubbles and foam and oooo it’s all bubbly and doing thingies and stuff!
Final note.
I will try to update this entry when there is something to tell. Next week it’ll be finished so we can taste!
